Description: PRINICIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The California National Guard Family Assistance Network Community Coordinator includes the Operation Ready Families mission, which is to assist units as they support the families of members of the California National Guard (CANG) during peacetime and times of training and deployment. The vision of this program is to provide a fully supportive military chain of command working with a fully functional family member chain of concern to enhance the wellness and readiness of the California National Guard.
Duties include:
Ÿ Coordinate and/or implement deployment programs designed to assist military personnel and their families in successfully managing the separations and reunions associated with the normal operational cycles of deploying commands as well as issues that arise in response to a major military mobilization.
Ÿ Plan and conduct workshops, briefings, and provide training and education on the topics including but not limited to: Deployment Readiness, Couples Pre-deployment, Singles Pre-deployment, Parent-child Pre-deployment, Managing Sudden Separations, Mid-deployment and Homecoming.
Ÿ Conduct a variety of marketing activities to increase awareness and utilization of Family Assistance Center (FAC) services by commands, individuals, and families.
Ÿ Cross train in a variety of program areas to support the availability of basic FAC service provisions
Ÿ Provide Family Readiness Group Support and mobilization support and coordination.
Ÿ Provide command liaison services.
Ÿ Ensure the timely updating of designated Standard Operating Procedures and curriculum and revise the content to incorporate customer feedback and to reflect the identified needs of the military community.
Ÿ Participate in professional training to ensure effective and accurate service delivery.
Ÿ Provide the government with information, support, and assistance as required.
Ÿ Complete all required reports and forms in a timely and accurate manner.
Ÿ Attend meetings as designated by supervisor.
Ÿ Ensure effective service delivery through evaluation of customer satisfaction surveys. In consultation with Regional Coordinators, FAM, and the CM direct and take on-going actions to improve overall program effectiveness.
Ÿ Cross train in a variety of program areas to support the availability of basic service provision in all service areas and ensure FAC is responding to the changing and emerging needs of the military community.
Ÿ Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in education, human/social services or related field or four years' experience providing social service, work/family life consultation, or counseling services.
Three years' experience providing training or education services to small and large groups or equivalent.
Physically and emotionally able to withstand the rigors of mobile work.
Military lifestyle experience preferred (personal or professional)
Must be familiar with military protocol when addressing Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers and Government civilian personnel and be willing to adhere to this protocol
Ability to perform periodic travel as needed to support geographically separated units
Ability to work a flexible schedule (e.g. periodic weekends) as mission needs require
Profiecient at office computer systems including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Training:
Contractual training will include completion of the following sessions: Crisis Calls, Equipment Safety, Security Requirements, Regulatory Guidance and Contractor Identification Requirements.
