Tamara de Lempicka (1898-1980) was a master artist and brilliant exponent of the Art Deco style which celebrated the modern "machine age" emerging in the early decades of the 20th Century. Ms. de Lempicka was probably the most famous painter of Art Deco style which was the rage in Europe and America during the 1920's. Sexy, bedroom-eyed women in stylish dress are rendered in haunting poses. She developed her paintings in a distinctive and bold style which epitomizes the cool modernism of Art Deco. She was an icon of the "Jazz Age", a glamorous, unconventional, free-spirit who typified the "bohemian" lifestyle now associated with the Roaring 20's. Art Deco was an exciting and innovative form of art, architecture, furnishing, interior design, jewelry, and still seems contemporary and fresh after 80 years. Ms. Lempicka became an influential force early in the movement beginning with her exhibition at the first Art Deco expo in Paris. Her most popular paintings are: "Auto-Portrait", "Blue Lady with Guitar", "Candy & Calla Lilies", "Girl in Gloves", "White Drape Blonde", and "Blonde with Dove". She has enjoyed world-wide revival in popularity after super-star Madonna acquired one of her paintings in the 1990's.

Because, I’ve had it in storage for years, the colors are still vibrant. And, this image is highly desirable among collectors.
As beautiful as I find the print, it doesn’t go with my décor. So, I’ve decided to sell it. I've been told that it sold for $1,800 to $3,000 when it was first produced, and that they currently sell on eBay for $150 to $350. So, I think my price is good...especially if you don't have to pay for shipping.
I have it stored in a frame for protection, but it isn't really mounted. You can have it with or without the frame.

This piece is old and well used. It has straps for carrying.
Ethiopian pastoral peoples have a variety of containers made in various materials (gourd, wood, animal horn, plant fibers, and leather) and using different kind of designs and decoration. Most of them are made from a combination of media and richly decorated. This type of containers is a handwoven watertight basket in the form of a jug. Usually, the lid is made from a piece of calabash attached to a handwoven top. The jug has carrying straps made of leather. It is decorated with cowry shells, which are said to symbolize fertility, femininity, wealth, and protection. Inside these jugs, there is an old black patina encrusted which may be from a combination of materials used to make the jug waterproof. This milk jug still has a very mild aroma of what it once contained. These jugs were woven by women using fiber from the roots of various vegetable species available in the area. It takes months to finish a jug, especially for the large container. The women use a coil technique from the base. Strands of fibers are bunched together and wrapped at regular intervals with either one or two other fibersIn addition to the Oromo, Borana and Gabra, similar vessels are found among Somali, Rendille, and several other groups. These milk jugs were a part of everyday life, used to carry and preserve milk from their cows. Milk is an essential part of pastoral peoples’ diet. Milk was also used in rituals of fertility where it is compared to the semen according to scholars. Thus, similar Jugs, especially the ones call Chicho, or wedding jugs, have an important role to play in marriage rites as symbol of a womb. The family of the groom will present a jug to the new couple. This jug means the marriage itself. Destroying or loosing this jug could cause misfortune for the couple. Milk jugs are present in every household and used daily. As the pastoral people have to move constantly from place to place, most of the jugs have leather handles which allow the owner to carry his or her jug everywhere he or she goes. The most decorated ones were reserved for the head of the household or for visitors.

The iconography of the Voodoo pantheon has influences from African, Carib Indian, and European cultures, especially the Catholic sainthood in TheLatinArts tradition. Since the French masters forbade voodoo during slavery, natives incorporated the images of the Catholic saints into their pantheon of deities so that they could continue worshipping their own gods. Many flag art images today are an interpretation of some voodoo belief mixed with Christian rituals and teachings.
