Reports to: Program Supervisor
Salary: $12.00/hr
Status: 100%,
Probation: 90 days – Non-Exempt Hourly/Union

JOB SUMMARY:
Provide direct services and supervision to homeless and at-risk youth at the Jeff Griffith Gay & Lesbian Youth Center, to ensure that their life-sustaining needs are met on a daily basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1) Provide direct daily services to clients, ages 15 to 24 years, including, front desk check-in, laundry, meals, showers, clothing and other life sustaining services;
2) Supervise and monitor clients during meals, shower times, and computer times and in the free spaces of the youth center. Help clean up after activities and keep all areas clean and tidy.
3) Maintain adequate inventory of food items, shower supplies, cleaning supplies and re-order items on a timely basis.
4) Supervise and coordinate client's participation in cleaning and upkeep of youth center;
5) Help ensure all aspects of client's daily case plan are followed and provide feedback to case managers as required;
6) Assist clients to deal effectively with personal and interpersonal issues as they arise;
7) Supervise and/or facilitate client groups and other activities;
8) Assist staff and management in the assigning and coordination of duties and tasks for volunteers;
9) Participate in staff meetings, planning meetings and other meetings as needed;

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Other duties as assigned;
2) May be required to work evenings and weekends;

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
1) A minimum of 2 years experience in a social service or related setting;
2) Experience working with homeless and at-risk youth;
3) Knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting gay & lesbian youth, including experience working with high risk youth (specific work with gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and/or runaway youth a plus);
4) Background in HIV/AIDS a plus;
5) Bilingual Spanish/ English preferred;
6) Good verbal and written communication skills, including strong organizational, detail and interpersonal skills;
7) Some computer skills and knowledge including word processing, database operations, spreadsheets, and other software systems;
8) Ability to work effectively with men and women of diverse races, ethnicities, ages, gender identities and sexual orientations in a multicultural environment;

TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND LICENSURE:
1) Valid California Driver's license and an clean DMV record (ability to obtain insurance);
2) Current CPR Certificate;
3) Current Hepatitis B and TB negative test results (within 10 days of hire);
4) Fingerprint-verified criminal record check
