Systems/Delivery Engineer Position
Job Description
The Delivery Systems/Engineer will be responsible for the construction and sending of all production and research-based mailing campaigns and drops as well as ensuring that corresponding revenue and delivery reports are generated.
Education
2 or 4 year degree in an Engineering-related field
Skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Manage numerous tasks efficiently with little supervision
Work well in a small team environment
2+ years experience with Linux scripting (Perl, Bash, PHP or Python)
Experience with SQL or PL/SQL
Familiarity with mail server configuration and SMTP
Basic network experience with TCP/IP
Experience working with DNS is a plus
Previous email marketing experience is a plus
Responsibilities
Will include but not limited to the following
• Assign/remove IP & domain resources on mail server platform
• Test IP resources after configuration changes
• Test for IP reputation within mailing IPs and surrounding IP space
• Generate reports on revenue, mail delivery, IP reputation, and offer exposure
• Research trends or issues with daily delivery results
• Understand the relationship between complaint rates, offers, sending times, delivery, revenue, and recipient data age and activity
• Construct and execute tests for the development of delivery tactics at all email providers such as Hotmail, AOL, Google, and Yahoo
• Segment lists for sending using SQL queries
• Prepare creatives and campaigns for drops
• Schedule mail offers and drops
• Define and configure mail server settings for throttling, backoff, etc, and analyze SMTP data to enhance mail server settings
• Contribute to the formulation of ideas for enhancing delivery statistics and reputation of mailing IP space
• Perform initial analysis of daily mailing results
• Maintain DNS for IP blocks used in email delivery
• Assist with initial implementation of whitelisting process
• Work with clients to retrieve list and offers
• Work with List Managers to organize offer scheduling
• Perform campaign management tasks
• Create and execute campaigns and drops prescribed by email delivery team
• Coordinate changes/additions to DNS and IP space to mail server environment with Engineering
• Assist with analyzing campaigns and drops
• Seed account list maintenance
