JOB SUMMARY:
Loss Prevention Specialist is responsible for detecting, reporting and resolving matters in the area of safety, inventory shortage, cash handling and theft, and for providing customer service as per Company standards. Also, is responsible for communicating effectively and working cooperatively with store and law enforcement personnel. The Loss Specialist must work with discretion and professionalism, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Owns shrink and safety results for assigned area(s).
· Manages the training, detection, investigation and successful resolution of all internal high dollar and sensitive investigations within assigned store.
· Ensures all training in the detection and detention of shoplifters including certification has been completed in assigned store.
· Educates and motivates store associates to achieve shrink, workers compensation and general liability goals.
· Conducts assessments of Loss Prevention and operational performance that impacts shortage control. Actively works with store team in the development and implementation of action plans to improve performance.
· Ensures accurate and timely report writing, record keeping and retention of evidence by conducting periodic reviews.
· Conduct routine inspections of the facility to maintain physical security and protection of assets.
· Conduct daily, weekly and monthly store audits.
· Monitor closed circuit television systems, and ensures the proper operation and repairs of alarm, and CCTV equipment.
· Assists in development and implementation of safety training programs for compliance with OSHA regulations and other federal, state or local requirements.
· Conduct safety inspections and communicate hazards to key holder on duty.
· Conducts research and prepares a variety of statistical and administrative reports.
· Works as a liaison between the store and the criminal justice community.
· Monitor and report to management on individual vendor performance through regular reviews, especially of key vendors.
· Other responsibilities as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
· Associates degree or equivalent Loss Prevention experience.
· Minimum Experience level required: 3+ year’s previous experience in an Audit, Security or Loss Prevention role.
· Experience conducting legal or ethical investigations is required.
· Knowledge of retail grocery business preferred.
· Ability to analyze information, identify root causes and develop/implement approved solutions in stressful situations.
· Ability to use strategic thought process to minimize exposure to emerging threats and trends
· Ability to form strong partnerships across reporting relationships.
· Ability to influence activities and results of those who are not direct reports.
· Attention to detail, acute observation, and analytical skills are essential.
· Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
· Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and accomplish company objectives.
· Sufficient mathematical proficiency to understand required functions such as gross profit, payroll and department contribution.
· Computer literate; experienced and able to use Excel (spreadsheet), MS Word (word processing), and Microsoft Outlook.
· CCTV usage and installation
· Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
· Ability to perform essential functions, with reasonable accommodation if needed.
