ANNUAL SALARY:
$38,688.00 - $53,123.16 plus excellent benefits package, including 2.7% @ 55 PERS Retirement, employee contributes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Under direction, supervise security officers and contract service personnel and administer agency security program including asset protection and loss services. Resolve management, discipline and staff conflict problems; prepare staff performance evaluations; conduct and provide officer training as required. Coordinate the activities of assigned security officers and contract service personnel; plan, organize, assign and prepare work schedules. Control and maintain department files and records for all HACLA security/ investigation activities; monitor daily activity logs of security officers. Administer security and asset protection programs; inform superiors concerning existing and/or potential security or loss services problems. Recommend policy and procedure changes, as needed. Act as liaison between HAPD and local law enforcement agencies; coordinate investigative process between HAPD and other involved law enforcement investigators. Prepare highly specialized reports and technical documentation for the department, including the development of security policies and procedures, required internal and external reports and documents, RFP’s, etc. Assists in development of department budget; monitors and controls security activities and budget. Develop requirements for closed circuit television and surveillance security systems and applications including hardware and software needs; monitor and maintain operations of security surveillance systems. Conducts orientation and training presentations to Authority personnel, residents, contractors, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the Housing Authority Security Department policies, procedures, organization and terminology: knowledge of organization, methods, and principles of security administration; knowledge of supervisory techniques; ability to utilize closed circuit security surveillance systems and computer applications; ability to utilize radio and other specialized communications equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Authority personnel and the public with a high degree of discretion and tact. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Skill in report writing; operation of computer and other office equipment; skill in supervising personnel; skill in security surveillance, inspection and investigative activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination equivalent to: a high school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by college level courses in security, loss prevention, asset protection or other closely related area and 4 years of increasingly responsible experience in security operations and loss prevention including two years experience in an administrative and supervisory capacity. Must possess a valid California Firearms permit (a copy must be submitted as part of the job application). A valid California Drivers License is required.
As a condition of new and continued employment, employees in this classification must participate in mandatory direct deposit of payroll.

EXAMINATION:
