LOOK MINT 45 year old Lane Chest registered Immaculate condition PICS
PLEASE - NO OVERSEAS WEIRD CHECK SCAMMERS WANTING PAYPAL INFORMATION OR CHECK PAYMENTS. Looking to swap something of equal value for this wonderful piece, thanks!!
My Grandmother passed away, and in her garage, WAY buried in the back among some other items, wrapped in a blanket was this BEAUTIFUL Lane Cedar Chest. We didn't even know she had this. It is numbered with a serial number which we tracked down, and we found out that it was made September 4, 1963 EXACTLY. This is just shy of 45 years old! IT is in wonderful almost MINT condition. I hope the pics tell you how great this truly is.
These were Manufactured by Cohen Brothers, New Castle, Delaware for Lane. This is the most striking benefit of this Lane Cedar Chest in that it has a storage and preservation of memorabilia from the past and for the future can be tastefully held in these handsome "time capsules". It is literally MINT condition and we've done our research and found out that it is valued at just over $900. Based on the pictures, we were offered $600 from a company named Royal in Mississippi last week, but the cost is too much to ship it out and we are honestly afraid of ruining the finish or it getting banged up.
So much to tell you about this wonderful piece; Has a lock "pop" button with the ORIGINAL key found in the keyhole. The inside is immaculate and I am beginning to wonder if my Grandmother eve used this. Not sure what we want to trade, so long as it's not massages, home improvements of any kind, lessons, old radios or TV's. You tell me what you got, I will let you know if it's worth both our times. Please, no junk. I know what I got.. What have YOU got? Ipod's? Notice the "S." New bicycle? Folding one? Gift cards? I am going to Denmark on an Ocean Princess Cruise if you got any leads for me.
The Chest is solid Cedar with double hinges that swing easily. It also has a locking mechanism and the original Key! The box measures almost 4 feet long, 18" wide x 22" tall. It is 15 inches deep (the compartment). Has a double shelf lined with green moss liner where the Patent code inside along with the "Lane" inlayed. Even has an "E" in the back where it showed the last name initial of the maker (this makes it exceptionally rare). The serial number is located on the bottom, which is how we were able to determine it's age. We know this piece is valuable and if I wasn't going to School, I would keep it and pass it along. But truth be told, I could really use the money. The wood is just beautiful, coming in 3 shades of Mahogany, Dark Oak and Cherry. This is a wonderful piece of Memorabilia that is just as useful today and when it was presented many yesterdays ago!
The only thing I've done to it othe than remove a layer of dust, is polish the brass handles which lost it's luster many years ago. As you can see from the pics, they are back to life! And hey, I almost forgot; still has the ORIGINAL promotional tags attached that were never removed. That is how we wonder if it was EVER used. <br.
