presents

"SPACE JUNKIE"
An invitation to expand your horizons.
An opportunity to let go of your surroundings, your opinions
and see things for what they might be instead of what they are not.

"Art as I know it is a communicator, a facilitator of introduction, but no matter how articulate the speaker or how perceptive the listener there are always ideas and meanings that go undiscovered. This is where my globes come in. They are symbols that make it easier to imagine different scenarios in which multiple meanings can be derived. The globes represent the intangible like the future or things that cannot be quantified like people or love. The mere mention of these words invoke many different meanings to many different people, by painting these ideas as globes the focus of obvious meaning is shifted to the back-burner and the imagination of the viewer is allowed to decide for themselves what they are seeing." Alex Rios

"Death Bequeaths Her" This piece is very close to me. It is a tribute of sorts to the very human side of Death. Who is to say what is alive and what is not? What defines the nature of being human and why should it be different than anything else? In this piece roles are reversed and it is Death that is haunted by our heroine. Continually wanting and unable to stay away Death takes his toll and makes an offer.

"Free Floating" is a new version of a wood study I had previously done. In the wood study I looked inside the tree to the grain and brought out images in its pattern. Upon close inspection I realized that spatially there is no difference between cosmic and microbial.

" I understand the meaning of the idea that all men are created equal but The Majestic must be seen to be believed."

D. Thomas
