We have three vacation condos for rent in South Kihei near Wailea directly across from Kamaole Beach II:

All three condos are steps away from Kamaole Beach II, one of Maui’s finest family beaches with lifeguards. They are located on the same block within walking distance of each other and close to shops and restaurants. They are an easy drive from the airport (9-miles/20 minutes).
The Maui Banyan complex is currently a COSTCO vacation destination. Our unit rents
as a one bedroom lock-off hotel room with a private entry and bath (sleeps 3), a full one bedroom-one bath with kitchen (sleeps 4), or complete two bedroom-two bath with kitchen (sleeps 7). The Maui Banyan complex is located on twelve beautifully landscaped acres and features two swimming pools, spas, and a tennis court. Our unit is located on the “cooler” side of the complex.
The Kihei Kai Nani one bedroom unit is located a short distance away on the same block. It has an ocean view from the large lanai and sleeps four adults. The complex has a large 60 foot swimming pool, one of the largest in South Maui. The complex is situated on nine acres directly across the street from the where visitors gather each evening to watch the spectacular Maui sunset over the ocean.
Our Kihei Akahi studio is located on nine acres of lush tropical gardens between the Maui Banyan and Kihei Kai Nani properties. Our studio sleeps two and has a kitchen and private bath with washer and dryer. It has two pools, gas BBQs, and tennis courts.

In the apartment you won't find other international turists, but a Roman woman (me), in her 30s. I speak English fluently as I lived in Chicago for years. So, if you are that kind of person who is used to enjoy a vacation interacting with locals rather than following step by step the Fodor's hints, my place is perfect for you. We will mutually enjoy the temporary sharing of the house! Extra bonus: I know both the Italian and American culture, so I might be of help with the do's and don'ts, as well as managing a trip all throughout Italy (i.e. Florence, Venice, Bellagio, etc.)

The La Salina Beach Hotel and Cantina is in the middle of a gringo community on the beach between Rosarito and Ensenada. The Puerto Salina Marina is about 200 yards away.
During the week the cantina and surrounding area are mostly quiet. Locals hanging out watching tv or listening to the jukebox. Weekenders roll in throughout the night on Friday and head back to the US on Sunday or early Monday morning. Weekend entertainment at the cantina is a mix of local bands (English), karaoke, jukebox, PPV events, jazz or rock bands. Check out the cantina event calendar for karaoke dates and other events.

We are an East Coast family who loves the mountains and absolutely fell in love with the serenity and quietness that Green Valley Lake has to offer. We moved to California a few years ago and were searching for a place that allowed us to make memories with our kids. Unlike the busy-ness of Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead, Green Valley Lake had the best of both worlds in being secluded and quiet, as well as being close enough to drive to larger attractions within a short period of time.
