Have you ever been interested in learning to fly radio control airplanes but you haven't had the time or the money to learn how to fly?

Learning to fly without an instructor can be a costly venture, and even then you won't learn what's truly necessary to be a great pilot. With the advent of new ultra micro RC technology, radio control flying is no longer limited to wide open lands, rather the local park is becoming a popular flying location.

All the flying in your training will take place with a slightly modified four channel Parkzone Ultra-Micro Sukhoi Su-26m. Modeled after one of the most popular (not to mention successful), real aerobatics planes of all time, this model has very generous flight characteristics that will allow you to make the jump from beginner flying straight into aerobatics. At a flying weight of just over 1 oz and a wingspan of just 15 inches, this plane can be flown comfortably in the park or a gym. Rather than learning to fly on a three channel trainer which lacks ailerons, you'll learn how to fly planes with the same controls that professional aerobatics pilots use.

As a student, you'll learn how to fly through the "buddy box" system where you'll be in full control of the airplane, but in case you lose control or don't feel comfortable performing certain maneuvers, I'll be able to take over. The instruction will follow along four basics steps:

In the first phase, you'll learn the basic concepts of flight. This will include how an airplane generates lift, how the receiver and transmitter in your plane communicate with each other, how the control surfaces control the plane, and what natural factors such as wind, gravity and centrifugal force play in flight. You'll learn how to perform a simple pre-flight check and a range check to ensure that a model is safe to fly before it is flown. The basics you learn in this phase are absolutely critical to getting started flying radio control planes.

In the second phase, we'll take to the air and you'll learn how to trim the airplane, how to maintain level flight, and how to bank and turn. We'll take each step slowly�starting, for example, with how one control surface effects the planes flight, and work our way through all four channels of control. Nearing the middle of this phase you should be able to comfortably fly the plane level at a reasonable altitude without any of my input. And lastly, at the end of this phase you'll learn how to takeoff and land the airplane all on your own.

In the third phase, we'll work on performing some basic aerobatic manuevers including inverted flight (flying the plane upside down), aileron rolls, inside loops, and knife edges. This is the most exciting phase of your training and what you learn here will be carried with you long after you learn how to fly on your own.

In the fourth phase, you'll learn how to handle emergency situations including deadstick landing (when the plane loses engine power completely and you are forced to land without power), stalls on landings, and recovering from unusual angles of attack. This phase, although you hopefully should never need to use what you learn in it, is without a doubt one of the most important parts of flying. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've lost engine power mid flight, and knowing how to land without power saved me.

The final check step will be a completely unassisted solo flight where I will disconnect my radio from yours for the first time and you will be in absolute control of the plane without me being able to take control at all! During this final solo check flight, I'll make sure you are confident enough to be let free to fly alone and on your own by asking your to perform some basic aerobatic maneuvers that we will have practiced with each other in the earlier phases, as well as being able to perform a clean takeoff and landing.

If you'd like, you can purchase your own Parkzone Ultra-Micro Sukhoi Su-26m ($100 retail) to train with, in addition to a Mode 2 2.4ghz DSM2 transmitter such as the Spektrum DX5e (retail $60), however you can also learn on one of mine. In the end, this is the ultimate four channel aerobatics plane to fly at your local park with while living in the city. Since the course is designed to learn how to fly micro 4 channel aerobatics planes, I'm only offering lessons on the Sukhoi. What you learn on this plane will be able to be carried over to models much larger than it, however, without any stumble in the transition!

All of the flight training will take place at Columbia Regional Park in North Torrance (intersection of 190th, and Prairie Avenue). Depending on how much previous experience you have, or how quickly you learn, each phase can be completed anywhere from 1 hour to 4 hours or even more in rare cases. Each of the four phases will cost $29 total, no matter how long it takes you to learn in! This is an absolutely GREAT deal and to be honest I'm only asking to be payed this little because I need to make a bit of extra cash to pay for my own addiction to the hobby of RC flying :). You won't be able to find R/C flight instruction this cheap anywhere in the area, and they will most likely start you off on a slow 3 channel trainer that won't give you the ability to learn aerobatics, and all for a price that can reach $100 an hour...

If you feel like working on one phase a day and spreading them out, that is absolutely fine! Also, if you want to work on a crash course and get it all done in one day, we can get started early in the morning and work on it through the day as well.

I'm very excited to get you flying and taking part in the miracle that is RC flight. Don't waste your time and money learning to fly on your own. Trust me, as I was the fool who did and spent at least $500 dollars in repairs before I even got my first plane in the air. Many actors don't know where to begin with their career. You must learn to control your emotions and get rid of what holds you back as an actor. The class, taught by award winning actor/director David Rountree is now opening the class to new students and will help you gain the skills you need to begin booking roles. The class works on improv skills as well as scene work, auditioning technique, and on camera work. Each week is different and everyone will work in every class. The class meets Monday nights from 7:15-10:30 PM at The Actor's Workout Studio and is only $25 per class. No long-term class contract required. The instructor has produced/directed many projects as well as 3 Feature Films including one with a Halloween 2009 release.

Let�s give your masterpiece more energy! We can add some vibrato to that note, some power to that voice, and of course, some vibrant colors to those tones. Throughout this program, we will also be working on mixing your chest voice with your head voice until there is no break between them. If your throat hurts when you sing, don�t worry - this technique is a safe and powerful method that will never damage your vocal cords!

Putting Everything Together, Expression

Once there is officially no break in your voice, we will incorporate all the elements learned in the beginning and intermediate programs until all the techniques become second nature. Then, we will briefly work on expressions.

Breaking-Old-Habits Study
Learning to Sing Correctly

Singers who have been using their voices incorrectly can use the simple, flowing, non-damaging exercises that I give on a weekly basis. These exercises are given to break singers out of their old habits. If you can only sing three or four songs in a row before completely wearing out your vocal cords, something is not right. Please seek help immediately if this is your situation - with proper singing technique, you are supposed to be able to sing for hours with little or no fatigue.

All-Levels Group Study
Warming-Up, Stage Fright, Solo Performance, Group Critique

This will be an intimate class of up to eight singers of all levels. We will all warm-up our voices for the first ten minutes. Every student will then perform a solo piece either with an accompaniment CD or live instrument in front of the group. Each performance will be critiqued by the vocal coach as well as other students. Please leave your egos at the door. This class is meant to give singers the positive and negative critique they need in order to grow as artists. Every performance will be recorded, uploaded, and sent confidentially the performer to use at his or her discretion. We learn so much from watching others sing, but we learn even more when we watch ourselves sing.
This class meets every Monday at 3:30pm starting June 1st, 2009.

Students will learn to see the figure in a new way. We will set up a basic armature for fired pieces, choose and use tools, explore positive and negative shapes, prepare pieces for firing, and work from a life size torso as well as a live model. Your finished sculpture will be fired. There will be an opportunity to glaze and re-fire your pieces in consecutive classes.

The focus is on visual awareness of form, scale, proportion, shape, line, and quality of surface. No previous sculpting experience is required.

The setting is intimate. There will never be more than eight students in a class.
My goal is always to provide support technically, personally and creatively.

Day and Evening classes:

Wednesday evenings and from 6:00-10:00 P.M.

Thursday day from 10:30A.M. - 2:30 P.M.

Classes will run for 8 weeks

The cost for the classes is between $550 and $600.00. This includes the model fees. Material fees and firing costs are additional.
