Make History!
Work to Elect Barack Obama in November!

Grassroots Campaigns, Inc. is running campaigns on behalf of the National Democratic Party and MoveOn.org to elect Barack Obama this November! We have a truly historic opportunity to make change and get our country back on the right track after 8 years of Republican presidency.

With just over 3 months until America votes on November 4th, we are hiring Election Campaign Staff to join existing campaign offices and to launch new offices across the country.

Job Description:
Canvass Office Director and Assistant Director:
*Lead a canvass office on behalf of the National Democratic Party to identify donors, volunteers, and raise as much money as possible to Beat McCain and the Republican warchest. Since Obama has pledged to fund his entire campaign through individual support, without accepting lobbyist or PAC contributions or federal tax dollars, we must talk to as many people as possible and sign on new small donors to close the gap between us and the Republicans!
Voter Contact Field Organizer:
*Organize volunteers with MoveOn.org’s Get Out The Vote campaign in order to make sure that we elect Obama on November 4th! Recruit, train, and mobilize volunteers to do voter persuasion and get out the vote with target voters in key swing states across the country.

Prior political field work is preferred but is not a requirement; we provide apprenticeship and training to new staff. Regional Director, Lead Organizer, and State Director positions are also available for experienced candidates.

We are looking for staff in Los Angeles and are accepting applications for cities around the US.

TO APPLY: Visit our website: www.grassrootscampaigns.com/jobs.php.

Grassroots Campaigns is an independent political consulting firm that specializes in running field operations and fundraising for progressive candidates, causes, and organizations. Current and past clients include: the Democratic National Committee, MoveOn PAC, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Applicants will be employed by GCI directly, not by our campaign partners.

Paid for in part by Democratic National Committee (430 S. It is the policy of Grassroots Campaigns, Inc. to absolutely prohibit the flow of information between employees who are or have provided services to candidates, their committees, and political parties and those working on projects and providing services to entities making public communications as defined in the FECA or similar communications as defined in relevant state or local election law.
Putting together a team who has in interest in changing the world (LAX)

Peace be upon everyone.

Thank you for reading my post.

I have an idea for a website that i believe will potentially change the world. The website i speak of is meant to break down superficial understandings of religions in the world by interconnecting the sacred texts to prove that they are all basically saying the same thing which is to Love one another unconditionally; like the love my family has for me and the love i have for my family but extending that love to everyone you know. Religion is nothing more than a label, it's the belief in Love which should be the only thing prevailing from any religion.

Here is the current state of my idea: i have programmers laying the foundation for the website, setting up basic features like chatting on the site, pictures, etc.

What i currently need is to design the style of the website, basically make it attractable to all age groups and design a layout which can convey what i'm trying to do very easily and openly so that people can understand and comment what is going on in the website.

this is the team i need to put together. i need a group of dynamic individuals; of all age groups who use the web frequently and can brainstorm and put together a layout for the website paying close attention to detail and features for the site.

I'd say about 10 people including myself should be a good enough number to design this site.

I have an office very close to LAX on West Century Blvd with a big conference room that can be used to meet and discuss and draw up ideas. We can meet however many times a week (3 days a week i'm thinking) for a couple hours each day. I am the property manager for the building being used so a couple hours out of the day should be ok as i have my brother who also works as the property manager.

The website will be a non-profit organization so once it gets up and running and permitting, i can pay you. I intend the organization to be a long lasting one so there will be a job for you after if all goes well.

The whole website is based on this equation: Knowledge + Wisdom = Understanding. The knowledge portion is what i have described above and the wisdom and understanding correlate with knowledge.

I wrote a little thing on the website some time ago outlining the basics of the website explaining all 3 portions (knowledge, wisdom, understanding). I can e-mail this to you if you are really interested in joining the team. Also if you have friends who might be interested as well please let them know so they can join the team as well.

I also have a big business side to the website which i haven't gotten into yet. Basically the idea for the business side is to use Public Money in a Private Way. So think of a church who uses their donations to make the community better but does not have a church to spend their money on so all of the money goes towards the betterment of the community. Also think of it as your tax dollars which you have a say in what it does to better your own community bc essentially you will be part owner in whatever the money does. It's basically a public non profit organization that operates in a private corporation manner. I'm trying to give the power back to the people so we don't have to see starbucks and mcdonalds on every block and can replace them with fruit farms and community centers and parks bc the one thing lacking from big corporations is what we all have, soul.

As you can see i have big dreams for the website and they are definitely within reach as long as i can get the help and support of the people as well as getting the people believing in the dream. But by no means will it be easy, i don't expect it to be. I need hard working and dependable people who have a sense of morals and are easy going. If you have a big ego or have petty differences with people then you gotta change right now or else don't bother responding to this post. Also if you have an education in legal matters concerning zoneing and permits and all that mumbojumbo that would be very beneficial for the future. Or if you have any previous experience in the Non-Profit sector so we can use your wisdom to sidestep any previous problems you had run into that would be very beneficial as well.

If you feel you are qualified to help out in any way then please respond to this post. Or if you know anyone who can help please let them know about this post.

I'm thinking of calling the organization: The Love Foundation. What do you think? Can you draw a good logo? Can you think of a better name?

Thanks again for reading the post.

Clean Energy Fellow (Los Angeles)

AB32 and Los Angeles Clean Energy Fellow
Job description

Environmental Defense Fund: Our distinctive approach to environmental protection emphasizes a focus on scientific and economic disciplines and on the use of market mechanisms where applicable to reach well-crafted, durable solutions. The organization builds teams of scientists, lawyers, and economists to investigate the scientific causes of environmental problems as well as the market forces and government policies that encourage, subsidize, and prevent environmental damage. In the full range of environmental arenas (air, water, climate, soil, toxic chemicals, and wildlife), Environmental Defense Fund seeks practical solutions, founded on science, that policy makers and industry can be urged to incorporate into practice, law, or regulation.

Background: Our earth is warming and humans are adding heat-trapping greenhouse gases to the atmosphere at a perilous rate. California took a tremendous step forward when it adopted landmark legislation, Assembly Bill 32, the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006. AB 32 directs the California Air Resources Board to design and implement a program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in California to 1990 levels by the year 2020, approximately a 25% reduction. SB 1368, another far-reaching bill addressing global warming that passed in 2006, targets energy related entities, including load-serving entities and local publicly owned electric utilities. The world is watching as California gears up to reduce statewide emissions, reduce its dependence on dirty coal power, and pave the way to a less carbon-intensive way of living.

With passage of AB 32 and SB 1368, California is at the cutting edge of climate change policy development, and Los Angeles is poised to lead California. On May 15th 2007, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa issued an action plan calling for a reduction in greenhouses gases of 35% below 1990 levels. The plan contains more than 50 initiatives to help reduce L.A.¡¦s carbon footprint that need to be effectively implemented.

Overall Function: The AB32 and Energy Fellow will conduct policy analysis and advocate for measures which will help California achieve the goals set out in AB32, including energy efficiency measures and renewable portfolio standards. S/he will work to advance and implement key Environmental Defense Fund initiatives in Southern California. Geographic focus will be in the Los Angeles region, but must be able to work with others in the Climate and Air program to advise on related issues in California and nationwide. This is a one year position.

Key responsibilities:
„«	Collaborate with Climate and Air staff to develop a ¡§Blueprint¡¨ for action by analyzing the measures in Mayor Villaraigosa¡¦s climate action plan to identify key projects that can be implemented on an accelerated schedule and carried out in a manner that protects human health and has strong community support. Los Angeles can be the proving ground for sensible, cost-effective, innovative measures and projects to help demonstrate to the state of California and to the nation that yes, significant reductions in CO2 and other greenhouses gases are indeed accomplishable.
„«	Work with our Los Angeles staff to engage environmental groups, city officials and other stakeholders in developing a concrete strategy and timeline for implementing Mayor Villaraigosa¡¦s climate action plan for Los Angeles, including the specific projects and programs we will have identified in our ¡§Blueprint¡¨.
„«	Develop, with EDF marketing and communications staff, a webpage to arm Los Angelenos with information about how they can support strong climate policy statewide and take action to address global warming at home.
„«	Engage with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, ¡§LADWP¡¨ (the largest municipally owned power-provider in the nation) to meet aggressive renewable portfolio standards and energy efficiency goals
„«	Work with our Sacramento staff to educate state legislators from Los Angeles on the local benefits of state and local climate policy through in-district workshops and town hall meetings.

Qualifications:

„«	Four-year degree; advanced degree or 1-3 years work experience preferred.
„«	Ability to communicate with and work in close collaboration with advocates, community based organizations, environmental and environmental justice groups, and civic groups.
„«	Self-starter willing and able to think creatively about overcoming obstacles and ¡§finding ways that work.¡¨
„«	Excellent research and writing skills. Ability to work with team to produce professional-level reports and outreach materials to promote work goals.
„«	Strong technical, analytical and advocacy skills to support EDF¡¦s AB32 and clean energy policy goals.
„«	Must be able to schedule and conduct meetings, plan agendas, produce needed materials, and work constructively to help forge consensus among disparate stakeholders.
„«	Ability to communicate ideas and technical concepts effectively both within and outside Environmental Defense Fund.

Please send cover letter, resume, writing sample and salary requirements to:
