From a former tenant: Beware, if you have either met or will meet the old man w/ the room for rent on Sheltondale Ave in West Hills (This posting pertains to this man ONLY; NOT any of the other listings by the decent people of West Hills):

1) He has a "selective hearing" problem; PRETENDS he does not hear and then assumes NO responsibilty for any misunderstandings...

2) He constantly boasts how CLEAN he is, when in fact is one of the biggest slobs I've ever known (He makes his bed every morning- Wow! That is his idea of "clean")- The house is full of cockroaches (even had a snake lizard living in the walls; maybe still there), he hardly ever washes his hands or the dishes after he uses them (runs them under cold water w/ no soap for 2 seconds and wipes them off w/ a dish towel that is never washed- I used my own dishes and utensils)- He cooks a lot and spills all over the place then blames others for it- The garbage disposal NEVER worked and other things break and remain in disrepair (washing machine, gate, etc) yet he finds time to constantly rearrange the furniture in all the rooms about every week...

3) He will ask you for your rent EARLY every month; When I finally told him to NEVER ASK ME EARLY AGAIN, he apologized and said he just wanted to "pay some bills early" (that's his tenants' problem?)- Said the rent was due on the 18th of each month, I said it was more like the 20th; We BOTH misplaced our copy of the rental agreement, therefore we no longer HAD a rental agreement- Altho he insisted my rent was due on the 18th, he was asking me for it on the 16th and 17th- My last month there he asked for it early again and told me "I don't care how mad you get", which turned into a shouting match that escalated into a brief shoving match (This guy is of rather "boney" stature; He put his hands on me, not me on him and I am on the large side, so I was NOT going to harm him and he knew that) and I went to the LAPD West Valley Division about this but chose NOT to file a formal report at the time (he apologized)...

4) He is an elderly man (80 something) who chases after 18- 19 yr olds; I bought his old computer from him and he forgot to remove all the seductive photos of a 19 year old girl who also rented from him (I don't know how he got her pictures) as well as his diary detailing his obsession for her- He admitted to me once that he tried at least once to seduce her until she had enough and finally fled in the middle of the night never to return for her possessions which are still being stored in his garage.

5) He only refunded $25 of my security deposit even though he had plenty of notice that I was moving, I owed him nothing in rent and the place was in better shape than when I found it; He gave me an itemized list of fabricated reasons, such as I took his ethernet (Internet) cable (which I bought myself at Best Buy; He "charged" me $35 for it when I paid $19.95), linens and towels he claimed were his that in fact my (ex) wife gave to me when we were married, just to name a few among other things...

The deposit was only $200 (he was to subtract $15 for 2 old pieces of furniture he let me have) and I was advised that I cannot sue him for my time off work while pursuing this matter in small claims court, so it is not worth it to take a half day (at least) off from work just for that...

I was an ideal tenant the entire 10 months I lived there; Very quiet, kept the common areas clean, always respected him and his home, paid my rent on time, etc.- He asked me to move because he said one of his young "Honeys" is moving in w/ him and they will "go into business together" (yeah, right) but she apparently got smart and changed her mind, because he has been advertising here and the Daily News (maybe other places too)...

If you are reading this Mike, go ahead and try to sue me for slander, you disgusting old jerk; I would love to see you try to defend yourself against this because you know that every single word of it is true; You kids must be so proud of you, especially Julie...

Refund the remaining balance of $160 that you owe me and this posting comes down- Ignore and the postings stays; Simple as that...

I swear this is the complete truth and NOTHING but the truth...

When I was looking for a place I'd read a lot of listings claiming to be the "Perfect Location." I've lived in West Hollywood and Beverly Hills, but nothing lived up to that until I moved here.

In Studio City right off the 101, it is convenient to anywhere you need to be: 8 minutes to Sunset, 10 to Burbank, 3 to Universal City. But having moved here from New York, what I like is that you can walk everywhere. There's a supermarket, Starbucks and plenty of restaurants right next door, good bars and sushi across the street, along with anything else you could possibly want, from office supplies to tattoos to comics. I've cut down my mileage considerably, and with gas at $4 a gallon I'm glad I wound up here.

Hi, my name is Jonathan Manley. I am a 26 yr old Male, working full time, and have currently been living with my roommate for about 3 1/2 years. He has decided to move out, but I would like to stay. The room is in a 2 BR / 1 Bath, 1100 sq ft apartment within walking distance of Northridge Hospital and just a stroll away from the CSUN campus. Since we have been here awhile, the carpets and paint are not fresh and new, but are not drastically dirty either. The apt is well furnished, except for the one BR, which will be empty. I am 420 friendly and do not smoke cigarettes or allow cigarettes indoors. There is a nice spacious private patio for that. I would prefer a female roommate as they tend to be cleaner, but I am open for either. I work full time during the days and usually like to come home and enjoy a movie after work. I do have a surround sound system, and openly invite the new roommate to join me, however I am not excessively loud. I do not throw parties, but I do often have a friend or two over. We have one bedroom in a nice 2BR/1BA apartment in Brentwood, convenient to UCLA and the west side. I'm a gay male UCLA grad student and my roommate is a purveyor of organic produce. Studio apartments in the building are $1750/mo, so this is a great deal. We have cable TV and internet, A/C, a swimming pool, laundry, a koi pond, and an outdoor BBQ on the pool deck. Unfortunately, there is only one parking spot and it is in use. However, street parking is free save street sweeping. I ride my bike to the UCLA campus through the VA, which takes 15 - 20 minutes.
We don't have a lot of common furniture so there is plenty of room if you have your own stuff. A couch and dining table would be especially cool. There will be 2 cats for the summer until my roommate leaves. We like to keep the apartment clean and would like to find a tidy person.
