Linux Systems Administrator (Glendale)

We are a small tech firm looking for a Systems Administrator capable of day to day administrative duties such as email account setup, Apache Virtual Host configuration, including some tech support. The ideal candidate would meet the following requirements:

* High level of experience with RedHat, and some Debian Linux (RHCE / RHCT preferred)
* Apache configuration and optimization
* Postgres and MySQL database administration
* postfix / dovecot administration
* rsync / psync experience
* NFS / SMB / CIFS / AFP experience
* Virtualization administration with VMWare and XenSource
* Cisco IOS experience
* SNMP administration
* IPtables / PF / IPFW

Summary

� Provides technical assistance and training to internal and external customers by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as required.
� Network administration (including backup, security management, user account management, e-mail systems including e-mail web server, internet access, office
systems and applications support).
� Supports server, network and desktop hardware, software and applications.
� Administer and maintain servers and other systems, as needed.
� Manage, test and backup corporate databases
� Expert level experience in:
o MS-SQL databases and application development
o Stored procedures, query analyzers
o Building indices, tables and views
o Managing report generation and data integrity checks
o database clustering & performance tuning
o database security maintenance and enforcement0
� Participate in technical design discussions and planning meetings.
� Provide weekly and project status updates to managing engineer and/or manager.
� Participate in all required company, departmental, and team meetings and trainings.
� Observe and abide by all company, departmental, and team policies and procedures.
� Escalate issues adequately to managing engineer and/or manager.
� Implement and oversee security Fundamentals/Best Practices
� Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging server tools and technologies.
� Maintains excellent communication with the IT Manager on all tasks and projects.
� Research, evaluate and recommend system technologies to support business requirements.
� Rigorously create and maintain documentation for all processes and procedures.
� Perform on-site and remote technical support.
� Lead, train and support the work of other staff engaged in similar functions
� Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings
� Rolls out hardware and software to ensure optimal deployment of resources.
� Plans, implements, and supports the network and computing infrastructure plan.
� Manage projects according to agreed upon budgets and schedules.
� Assists with technology planning through ongoing research.
� Identify and correct or advise, on operational issues in client computer systems.
� Perform light lifting 25lbs.
� Document processes and systems
� Coordinate with the rest of the MIS team to meet the team objectives
� Performs other duties as assigned.
