Do you all really think when a turtle hits 4 inches they magically do not pose a risk for disease?
use common sense your gov is lying. And ask yourself this, if they are soooo dangerous, why then is it 100% legally to buy and sell for educational purposes? why would it be legally? why would the gov want these very dangerous animals around our children? because its a lie homie
Do turtles carry the disease? Yes
any more than any other reptile? depends on how you keep it, but pretty much no.
the gov banned the sale of turtles under 4 inch to prevent the release of a non-native species. (just like they did for piranha, they say it carries disease, but its just to prevent the spread ) They just spread disease rumor around to be effective. baby turtles do not promote disease any more than larger ones...... use common sense people. turtles pee and poop in their water, their are crevices in their shell they can house bacteria. a smaller turtle produces less pee and poop than a larger one, and has less surface area for bacteria to grow than larger turtles.
why doesnt anyone ask what about turtles under 4 inch make them more of a risk than larger ones? there is no answer thats why?.....
People were easily breeding these turtles, selling, and eventually releasing. As you can imagine thats not good for local species
any aquatic to semi aquatic reptiles will pose this threat, why didnt the gov ban fire belly toads or poison arrow frogs?????
