Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The typical duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
„X Financial Accounting/Reporting: Collects, analyzes, interprets and documents fiscal operating data; maintains the general and subsidiary ledgers; knowledgeable in tracing and vouching; prepares spreadsheets supporting account balances; and analyzes a variety of financial information for presentations and reports to City Manager, City Council, Community, and outside reporting agencies.
„X Budgetary Compliance: Assist in the budget preparation; monitor budgetary compliance; and integration of budget into the general ledger; knowledgeable in revenue forecasting and expenditure projections.
„X Cash Flow/Banking: Preparation of daily and long-range cash flow projections; monitors weekly bank balances; completion of monthly bank and investment reconciliation function; preparation of the monthly Financial Report for Administrative Services Director to present to the City Manager, City Treasurer and City Council.
„X Audit: Assist in the audit preparation; prepares fiscal transactions to assure conformity and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices and Procedures (GAAPP), as well as City codes and ordinances; be knowledgeable in Government Accounting Standards (GASB).
Minimum Qualifications
Ideal candidates must have a Bachelors degree or higher in accounting or a related field. The most desirable candidates will hold a license to practice as a CPA in the State of California. Experience involving municipal accounting, budgeting and financial reporting is highly desirable. The most successful candidate will be proficient with personal computer operations; understand general government financial techniques and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to independently perform the full range of responsible and difficult analytical and administrative work involving independent judgment and personal initiative; to establish and analyze accounting systems and procedures; and to review fiscal documents and transactions.

- Location: Sierra Madre, California
- Compensation: The compensation range for this position is $20.59 - $25.03 hourly up to 960 hours per fiscal year. This is a part-time position and as such offers no benefits. Participation in a deferred compensation plan in lieu of Social Security is required. This position is at-will. Employment may be terminated by the City or employee at any time.
