Lead Skills Instructor
Villa Esperanza Services has an immediate opportunity for a Lead Skills Instructor. The Lead Skills Instructor will assist program participants with basic living skills and assist program management with supervision of program staff (Skills Instructors) including proper programming for consumers. Works with clients and seeks opportunities to teach, train, and encourage independence for performing living skills. Covers shifts during absences, call-offs, etc. Maintains confidentiality in matters of clients, personnel, and Villa Esperanza Services operations; exercises good judgment in the performance of duties and responsibilities.
Experience working and training behavior modification techniques to staff, supervising a staff over 20 and marketing in the community to build relations and volunteer opportunities is preferred.
High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Must posses a valid CA driver’s license.
Final candidates must satisfactorily pass a fingerprint clearance, physical and TB screening.
Villa Esperanza Services is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the care and education of children, adults and seniors with disabilities. Founded in 1961 by a group of mothers who believed their developmentally disabled children deserved quality care and education, the program was named Villa Esperanza (“House of Hope”) in 1966.
Today, Villa serves over 1000 children, adults and seniors each year. Our clients range in age from 2-86 years old and include individuals with autism, cerebral palsy, Alzheimer’s, dementia, Down syndrome, mental retardation, and speech or communication difficulties. Villa serves individuals in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties by offering:
• A comprehensive school for children and youth to age 22, serving 24 school districts;
• A Speech and Language Center serving children, adults and seniors at Villa and in the surrounding communities;
• An integrated, community-based employment and work placement program;
• A center and community-based day program for adults;
• Eight adult residences in Pasadena and one in Thousand Oaks;
• An integrated Adult Day Program serving adults and seniors;
• An integrated Care Management Program serving adults and seniors in 41 cities;
• Independent Living Services program and a 6-unit independent living apartment in Pasadena.
