Dict.& Lit. Secys., Lit. Attys. & Law Students Wanted
Weekday, evening and/or weekend personal dictation taken by secy’s, paralegals, or law students. Attorneys and law students to be hired for litigation and research positions and to argue motions in court.
Hiring former partners or associate attorneys who are recently unemployed from larger law firms for CA and Fed. Ct. complex litigation positions and in aggressive defense of white collar crimes.
California law student researchers are needed for civil and white collar criminal defense litigation.
Litigation law firm has immediate daily, weekend, and evenings openings for legal support staff, including law student researchers very experienced in use of Westlaw and Lexis-Nexis, legal personal dictation secretaries; legal secretaries in complex CA and federal court litigation; legal secretaries in appellate law and writs; and white collar criminal defense and civil litigation. Will consider flexible time schedules and tele-comuting.
Must type at least 80 words per minute and must take fast dictation. Must be able to take dictation personally or via the telephone and not from a recording device. You must execute proofs of service for court pleadings prepared by you. Ideal candidate should reside in the general vicinity of Pasadena, CA to accomplish same. You may tele-communicate via our virtual office and by Gotomeeting.com. Independent contractor preferred.
You must have excellent skills, be a fast typist, have knowledge of MS Word, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Adobe Searchable PDF’s, Scanning Documents, cutting and pasting, uploading documents in the CM/ECF District Court and 9th Circuit Federal Court system and impressive computer skills and fill out time sheets. Appellate experience in preparing briefs and appendix is helpful. Your personal computer must use the Microsoft Windows XP operating system, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Word 2003 edition to conform to federal court electronic uploading requirements.
Candidates must be organized and keep time records and must be able to work independently.
The firm also needs California law students for research in connection with their law studies and must be enrolled in law school to do research and/or digesting depositions and for trial preparation. California law students preferred.
The firm will consider hiring attorneys who have been terminated from larger firms as part of down sizing, associates or out of state attorneys who have complex litigation experience and in successful defense of white collar crimes, and must have computing, internet, facsimile, and word processing skills.
Legal secretaries and paralegals must have at least 5 years complex litigation experience, including federal court experience.
All staff must be able to qualify for a security clearance and pass a drug test.
