The San Gabriel/Pomona PARENTS’ PLACE, a not-for-profit family resource and empowerment center in operation for over twenty years, is seeking a new FUND DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR to cultivate and solicit gifts through grants foundation corporations and individuals.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the direct supervision of the Director, cultivates and solicits gifts through grants foundations, corporations and individuals; conducts research of viable funding sources in both public and private sectors; prepares and submits grant proposals; manages tracking systems and procedures to report on progress status of grants proposed and received; provides management reports summarizing funding outreach activities; assists with planning and implementing fundraising activities and other events; maintains working knowledge of current fundraising and marketing practices in the not-for-profit sector and maintains professional contacts/memberships in the field.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: BA or BS degree; preferred to have a minimum of three years experience working for a not-for-profit fundraising organization; must have some knowledge of and familiarity with the Southern California region; must have a track record of soliciting donations on a personal basis. This individual will be involved in one-on-one solicitations, providing professional leadership for lay board and committees and identifying and developing major gift prospects; requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, as well as excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and database).

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Demonstrated desire to work within a not-for-profit and working knowledge of general development practices in a non-profit environment; knowledge in the areas of grant writing, fundraising and fund development; ability to adapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge; excellent written and verbal communication skills; creative thinker, persuasive interpersonal and communication style; strategic thinker; ability to edit for content; analytical skills; ability to initiate new contacts and develop long-term relationships with foundations and representatives of companies that might provide support; strong personal computer skills including preparation of spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software; experience with donor software preferred.

OTHER: Full use of an automobile, possession of a valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance for the minimum amount prescribed by law, or ability to provide independent transportation.
