THE POSITION
Specialist IV-Pool Manager under supervision of Recreation Coordinator.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Plans, schedules and programs for the best use of swimming pool facilities; prepares publicity to secure maximum participation in programs; inspects equipment to see that it is functioning and maintained properly; collects money from cashier, reviews their counts, then records; makes request for equipment, supplies, repairs to buildings and equipment and grounds-keeping work; prepares time and pay reports for payroll purposes; makes inspection of water; prepares report on accidents; gives first-aid when appropriate in the case of injuries; enforces and explains policies, rules and regulations of the pools; investigates complaints; assists persons who have lost children or possessions around the pool; plans swimming classes, instructs classes and guards pool when needed; Oversees swim meets and pool rentals. Approximately 30-35 hours a week depending on time of year and programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Must have minimum of three years experience as a lifeguard/swim instructor, 1 year in a pool management position and possess a valid California driver's license, Red Cross Lifeguard Training and Water Safety Instructor Certifications and certification in First-Aid and CPR meeting Title 22 Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Treatment standards.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors' degree in Recreation, Physical Education or related field. Two years experience in leadership or instructions of personnel in aquatics activities including supervisory experience. Knowledge of the laws and regulation relating to swimming pools in regards to the California in American Red Cross Community First-Aid & Safety, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard Training courses. A thorough knowledge of the methods of planning and supervising aquatic programs for recreational purposes; thorough knowledge of swimming pool management; ability to establish and maintain working relationships with employees and general public; bilingual.
