Helpdesk / Technical Support Staff Member (Part-Time/Temporary)

Helpdesk staff member will directly support school community members (both children & adults) on company-supported computer applications and platforms. She or he will troubleshoot and resolve problems, advise and train users on relevant tasks, and provide basic "customer service" to community members.

About this Position:

This is a temporary (approx 6 months), part-time helpdesk position at an elementary school in Pasadena, CA. No vendors please, we are not looking to outsource anything. Basic schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am until 3:00 pm (with lunch, breaks, etc).

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

• quickly respond to requests for technical assistance in person, via phone, electronically
• diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues
• follow standard help desk procedures
• set up and troubleshooting of basic av equipment (projectors, powered speakers)
• maintain organization and cleanliness of Helpdesk area
• assist with other activities (both technical and otherwise) related to the business of the school

Experience and Education:

• working knowledge of fundamental operations of relevant software and hardware including (but not limited to) x86 hardware (Wintel & Apple-branded), related peripherals, Windows (XP, W7), Mac OS (10.5, 10.6), Microsoft Office (v 2003,2007,2008)
• working knowledge of basic audio/visual equipment
• basic network configuration and testing (dhcp & manual IP configs, ping tests, wifi config, etc)
• prior FirstClass experience useful
• background in technology and/or education is desirable
• high-school diploma or equivalent required
• post-secondary education in technology and/or education helpful
