I have epilepsy and last fall, realized that as a child, I most likely had brain injuries from having hit my head after grand mal seizures, that this has affected how I have functioned in the world, especially personality-wise, my entire life, and that it is a disability, even though I've never felt disabled or seen myself this way, until now (I've been able to drive since I was 27 and haven't had a seizure in more than 20 years). Needless to say, this process has been a bit difficult and I now need to find a new way to function in the world.

Given all that I'm going through, I realized that I can't possibly be alone in going through this, so have started a support group for lesbians 50 and older with disabilities, and would especially like to meet other lesbians who have epilepsy. We had our first meeting at the end of March, and are planning to meet on a monthly basis.
