Essex Property Trust, Inc. is a fully integrated real estate investment trust (REIT) that acquires, develops, redevelops and manages multifamily residential properties in selected West Coast communities. Since the Company was founded in 1971, it has become the only multifamily REIT with a diversified portfolio located in strong West Coast markets which have significant constraints on the production of housing.

We are seeking highly motivated, experienced, and energetic candidates for the position of Dockmaster at our Marina City Club property in Marina del Rey, CA.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for monitoring and direction of property & dock maintenance operations to ensure compliance with company standards. Responsible for the performance of risk management functions on the property. Responsible for occupancy management, production and management of appropriate revenue growth, timely rent collection, policy and procedure compliance and the property’s financial performance, in particular as it compares to the annual operating budget. Responsible for supervising and directing docks, facilities and marina office. Working knowledge of all Federal State, and Local regulations relating to marina operation and environmental compliance. Ability to work with local Department of Beaches and Harbors and comply with all site inspections. Attend and participate in local Lessee and Harbor Commission meetings. Participation in the budget writing process including preliminary budget writing and capital asset determinations. Review financial statements, analyze, and transform interpretations into management actions. Supervision, training and motivation of staff. Perform written evaluations of all property employees in accordance with company timing guidelines, and provide recommendations for compensation adjustments or promotions. Monitoring and direction of rental activity, all direct on-site marketing, and maintaining an on-going, in-depth knowledge of the associated market. Complete other tasks or duties that may be assigned as required to facilitate the efficient or safe functioning of the marina.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of dock construction and repair. Excellent customer service skills and strong communication skills. Basic computer skills. Must be able to swim. Job is intermittently sedentary, but requires mobility to go up and down gangways to tour, show, and inspect docks on a daily basis. May require some light lifting.
