PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION
To work in concert with attorneys, and other personnel, to ensure that litigation matters run smoothly. This includes all aspects of docketing, data entry and maintenance of calendar items, court filings, factual and legal research, preparing pleadings and other legal documents, organization and summarization of documents and general office duties. Employee needs to work well without supervision, independently and under tight deadlines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
These are duties that the person holding this job MUST be able to perform. We gladly make accommodations on request and, if the accommodations are reasonable, allow otherwise qualified applicants to perform these functions.
1. Proactively anticipate the needs of the attorneys and administration to provide high-level of support.
2. Type correspondence and other written materials for attorneys, including letters, memos, forms, and meeting agendas/notes from dictation or written copy. Proofread/read for logic all work product before returning to attorney for final.
3. Document preparation, including drafting and assembly.
4. Manage the docket, including timely input/dairying of, review documents and maintaining calendar items.
5. Prepare all court filings for Federal, Bankruptcy, Appeals and State courts.
6. Conduct computer-assisted legal and factual research using on-line services such as PACER, Westlaw, Lexis, Dialog and/or Autotrack asset searches.
7. Send closed files to storage (sometimes may be administrative/non-billable).
8. Researching and staying current with reporting procedures and rules for the various courts as well as changes in regulations.
9. Updating attorneys with new Federal and Bankruptcy filing procedures and other relevant court rules.
10. Accurate and descriptive entries, in Firm’s Timekeeping application, demonstrating value for services rendered for both billable and non-billable tasks.
11. Filing, photocopying, pending files, etc. as required.
12. Effectively deal with issues of confidentiality.
13. Perform other duties/projects as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
The following are required to enable jobholders to perform the essential functions of the job.
1. Skills/knowledge
a. Proficiency and experience with CompuLaw and Summation applications
b. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
c. Excellent business writing, editing, proofreading skills, spelling and grammar
d. Strong organization, prioritization and attention to detail skills
e. Ability to multi-task, work and follow up in a fast-paced demanding environment
f. Document management skills
g. Strong oral and written communication skills as well as dealing with foreign clients
h. Must be flexible and a team player
2. Experience/Education
a. Understanding and/or working knowledge of circuit court rules and procedures a plus
b. Degree or Paralegal certificate preferred
c. 2+ years of docketing experience
d. 4 - 5 years of litigation support experience preferably with a sole practitioner or small law firm
