Jump Start is run by the Mental Health America of Los Angeles in collaboration with the California State University Dominquez Hills.
We are a private non-profit agency committed to the belief that individuals with mental illness can live full lives when supported with hope and empowerment.
Funded by the County of Los Angeles Department of Mental Health, Jump Start is a subsidized 12 week full-time certificated program to prepare post Bachelor participants to enter into the mental health workforce.
The fellowship will run from February 22 to May 14.
Participants will receive:
Intensive classroom trainings on Principles and Practices of Mental Health Recovery and Psychosocial Rehabilitation.
An internship with hands-on experience providing mental health services in social services agencies.
Training, tuition, books and other materials at no cost.
Opportunities for one on one interaction with leaders in the mental health field.
We Are Looking For
Graduates with a BA or a BS in any discipline. We are seeking participants who represent a broad range of cultural, ethnic and economic backgrounds, ages, interests, and academic and work experience. In addition applicants should have a commitment to social justice, an appreciation for diversity, enjoy working with people and relating to others empathically, want to make a difference in the lives of others, and are eager to work collaboratively with clients and coworkers.
Individuals recovering from mental illness and their family members are strongly encouraged to apply.
