Need a researcher to perform thorough literature searches in the field of nutrition as it relates to various diseases and physiological states. The typical search query would be something like "how does pyridoxine intake affect omega-3 fatty acid metabolism?". This would translate to numerous MEDLINE searches, retrieving the articles, and organizing/summarizing them.
A lot of this job has to be done at the UCLA campus in order to access various library resources, so it is helpful to live and/or study and/or work on campus or nearby.
The ideal candidate would be a pre-medical student at UCLA, or a recent graduate, or possibly someone studying to be a dietitian or nutritionist. It is very helpful to be interested in the field of nutrition and/or orthomolecular medicine. You will definitely learn a lot about that field as part of the job. It is possible that we will write one or more journal papers, in which case you can be a co-author.
This is a contract job, part-time (very flexible about how much time each week, but roughly 5-10 hours +/-). This is entirely a telecommuting job, pick your own hours.
