Description
Located in Marina del Rey, CA, the ASP.NET Developer will play a vital role in the planning, architecting, development and deployment of ASP.NET and other .NET-related client projects throughout the interactive department. Using his/her experience with ASP.NET and the .NET framework, C#, database and web development, and scripting languages, it will be the developer’s job to solve programming and architectural problems creatively, elegantly and according to best practices and industry standards. An ASP.NET Developer must be familiar with tools, technologies and frameworks to help implement solutions, and should constantly stay on top of new technologies and research new ways to use them to meet business goals.
Responsibilities:
• Work closely with other developers to architect, develop and deploy data-driven robust, scalable web applications, services and solutions using ASP.NET and the .NET Framework according to client specifications and planned requirements.
• Work closely with the Director of Technology and Project Management team in order to be intimately familiar with a project’s schedule, requirements and key features. Provide estimates on timelines and development efforts, consult and answer questions regarding technical aspects of a project or component.
• Develop applications according to Object-Oriented Programming best practices and accepted architectures such as multi-tiered (n-tier), service-based or Model View Controller (MVC) architectures.
• Work within an Agile, Scrum-based development methodology to efficiently manage resources and development efforts and ensure a quality product is delivered according to the project’s schedule.
• Help front-end HTML developers integrate their compliant, cross-platform front-end code into an ASP.NET application by leveraging available technologies in the ASP.NET framework. Use tools like Master Pages and Themes to help reduce the amount of HTML code needed.
• Make recommendations to the Director of Technology and the development team on various tools (IDEs, code generators, AJAX frameworks, etc) that can help improve programming efficiency and quality.
Required Experience:
• 3-5 years of experience developing robust, scalable, enterprise .NET and ASP.NET applications and services according to industry-accepted best-practices.
• Minimum two years of experience with the C# programming language. Experience with VB.NET or other .NET-based language (Visual C++, J#, IronPython) is a plus.
• Solid knowledge (minimum two years) of the .NET and ASP.NET 2.0 and 3.5 Framework’s features and capabilities, such as ASP.NET’s Provider model, WCF and XML Web Services, LINQ/ LINQ to SQL, and a good understanding of the many ways to use these technologies to achieve business goals.
• Minimum two years of experience with SQL Server 2000, 2005 or 2008, including knowledge of database architecture and development, T-SQL queries, stored procedures and user-defined functions, DTS/ SSIS, etc.
• Experience with client scripting such as JavaScript and AJAX, such as the ASP.NET AJAX framework. Experience using XSL for dynamic transformation and rendering of data is a big plus.
• Solid knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming, Design Patterns and .NET application architecture.
• Experience with other environments, frameworks and programming languages, such as PHP, JSP, Ruby on Rails, is a HUGE plus.
