About the Role
Our 24-hour practice never sleeps, and we are looking for a vigilant, hands-on Night Shift Veterinary Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is a vital role focused on the continuous care and monitoring of our patients through the night.
If you are a "night owl" who thrives in a quiet but high-stakes environment, this position offers the chance to spend your entire shift with animals in your hands—administering vital medications, managing fluids, and assisting with late-night medical emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
Overnight Care: Provide intensive, hands-on care for hospitalized animals, including medication administration and fluid therapy monitoring.
Emergency Assistance: Act as a critical support system for late-night emergency arrivals and urgent medical situations.
Vigilance & Safety: Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety while ensuring all animals are comfortable and secure throughout the night.
Physical Demands: Comfortably navigate the facility (including hills and slopes) in low-light/nighttime conditions and lift 50+ lbs.
Shift Information & Requirements
Schedule: Full-time overnight hours. While the primary focus is the night block, we require open availability Monday–Sunday.
Late-Night Emergencies: Must be available to assist with critical cases that extend into or arise during the overnight / early morning hours.
All-Weather Work: Ability to work outdoors in the elements; night temperatures in Acton can vary significantly, and the job requires being outside regardless of weather.
What We Are Looking For
Experience: Previous experience as a Vet Tech or in a veterinary clinical setting. Please specify any licensing or certifications.
Proximity: Reliable transportation to Acton, CA is essential for this shift.
Independence: The ability to complete assigned work in a timely, organized manner with high attention to detail during overnight hours.
Health & Safety: No known allergies to cats, dogs, or other animals that would interfere with constant handling.
How to Apply
Please submit your resume and include your desired hourly starting wage. Because this is a specialized shift, please clarify if you have any existing daytime commitments (schooling, other jobs) and confirm your ability to work the overnight schedule.
Principals only. Recruiters, please don't contact this job poster.
