William "Bill" Sikes is a fictional character and a main antagonist in the 1838 novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. Sikes is a malicious criminal in Fagin's gang, and a vicious robber and murderer. Throughout much of the novel Sikes is shadowed by his “bull-terrier” dog Bull's-eye.
Nancy is a fictional character in the 1838 novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens and its several adaptations for theatre, television and films. She is a member of Fagin's gang and the lover, and eventual victim, of Bill Sikes.
The first American posters were woodcuts, often very elaborate, and the art of printing from large wooden color blocks was perfected to the exclusion of any thoughts as to the design involved. Calhoun, in operation in the 1870s and 1880s, created a huge number of stock posters for theatrical productions. Using wood blocks made from boxwood trees, they needed three separate blocks for each color (one block per sheet).
These poster are original antiques from the 1880’s.
$1880 for the pair
