Extremely rare and hard to find Freak Show or Side Show Banner
Circa 1950's
Hand painted by Fred G Johnson one of the best known and most popular banner painters of the time.
I believe this made for and used by the Dewayne Circus in California.
Approx 10 feet wide with original leather straps.
Spectacular image of the Sponge Girl who obviously had some kind of bizarre skin ailment.
Some flaking and paint loss due to its age and being rolled and packed as it moved from town to town.
But still very strong and durable.
Pictures pretty much tell the story.
Impossible to find this type of Carnival Fairground Circus memorabilia.
