Animator + Editor Needed for Narrative Web Projects (January Start)
We’re a small, independent creative team in post-production on a narrative web series and a sci-fi dramedy proof of concept. We’re looking to collaborate with an animator and an editor who are excited about storytelling, experimentation, and building something meaningful from the ground up.
We’re aiming for a February/March release, so January availability or prioritization is key.
ANIMATOR:
We’re seeking an animator to animate a portion of an upcoming episode of a narrative web series. This will be our fifth episode, which we plan to shoot next. The exact scope (number of pages or moments animated) is still being finalized and will be determined through a creative discussion around what’s feasible and what best serves the episode.
What we’re looking for:
Expressive, character-driven animation
Interest in claymation or similar animation styles (stop motion, stylized 2D/3D, mixed media all welcome)
Ability to capture Black culture, nuance, and mannerisms with care and playfulness
Someone who enjoys experimenting and having fun with the material
Bonus: We’re also developing a fully animated web series, so if that excites you, definitely mention it and share relevant samples.
EDITOR:
We’re looking for an editor to support two projects:
Project One: Sci-Fi Dramedy Proof of Concept
This is a short, six-page proof of concept for a sci-fi dramedy pilot. The setup is intentionally simple: three characters at a table, plus a newscast that appears in the space via a green screen hologram.
Key needs:
Ability to handle light visual effects to sell a futuristic sci-fi world
Experience or interest in compositing a green screen hologram moment
A creative eye that enjoys playing in the sci-fi space and elevating tone through post
We’ve prepped for the green screen moment and are looking for someone who can help bring it to life in a clean, believable way.
Project Two: Narrative Web Series
We have two immediate editing needs here:
A. Teaser Trailer
A rough cut already exists (approximately three minutes) but needs refinements, a few additions, color, and audio smoothing
Goal is a polished, compelling teaser ready for release in January
B. Episode Editing
Four episodes already shot (roughly 5–15 minutes each)
Looking for someone with a strong sense of comedic rhythm, even within dramatic moments
Someone who takes time with pacing, performance, and story beats is an ideal fit
Timeline & Availability (Shared)
Looking for collaborators who can start immediately or make this a priority in January
Goal is to be release-ready in February
January availability and responsiveness are important given the timeline
Compensation (Shared)
This is a delayed compensation structure
Compensation is tied to fundraising, festivals, and future monetization
Clear agreements will be provided so expectations are transparent
Limited upfront funds, though small completion or expedited incentives may be possible depending on scope and timing
About Us
We’re building narrative projects centered on Black experiences across the diaspora, with an emphasis on humanity, humor, and truth. While these stories are rooted in Black perspectives, we welcome collaborators of all backgrounds who believe in the importance of creating space for these voices and stories to thrive.
We’re early-stage, scrappy, and collaborative, and we value curiosity, care, and creative ownership.
All projects were shot on high-quality cameras, and stills from both projects will be included below so you can get a sense of tone and visual quality.
