2003 Corvette C5 Coupe

When 2003 rolled around, Chevrolet celebrated the 50th year of America’s sports car, and of course, an Anniversary Edition rolled off the assembly line replete with the production LS1 engine sporting 350 horsepower. A nice, good looking, driver, but not exactly a heart throbbing high performance car.

What we got here is just the opposite. A hopped up, supercharged, NOS injected hot rod Vette with a boatload of trick features, and some honest to goodness power that will challenge anyone but a professionally trained race car driver.

This Torch Red coupe has comes with a red hot attitude, the fully rebuilt and beefed up LS V8 now pumping out north of 600 dyno tested horsepower thanks to the shiny Magnuson supercharger that straddles the engine valley, and nitrous oxide injection that boosts the performance of the blower and sends this puppy through the quarter mile trap in the 10s. It is, simply, a street legal race car for the driver who appreciates breathtaking acceleration and, where it can be applied, some eye popping speed. The transmission is the tried and tested 4L60E automatic overdrive, and the rear end gears are 3.42:1.

Inside, the cabin is fully equipped with all the creature comforts the C5 Corvettes come with, but the dashboard has been changed out to a Z06 component with heads up display, it features a paint matched roll bar, and red 5 point seat harnesses complement the black leather interior. The car has been modified with Lamborghini style scissor doors and Borla exhausts rumble assertively to let folks know this is no run of the mill Vette. Dark tinted T-tops, chrome body trim, chrome rims with ZR rated Michelin tires, a rugged Gymkhana suspension system, long tube, heat wrapped headers, drilled and slotted four wheel disk brakes, ground effects air dams, and a rear spoiler make this a one of a kind standout Corvette that wilt and die in time as its C5 cousins are prone to do.

For sale by the second owner, an avid and active member of the National Corvette Club, in order to move up to a later model. The car has made a couple of drag strip passes and once placed in the 90 mile Silver State Challenge road race under the ownership of the seller, clocking an average speed of 111 mph. In the past 10 years, it has only been driven locally, though it was driven on road trips until then. It has never been abused, still gets plenty of attention at car shows, and has virtually no signs of wear except for a small tear in the bolster of the driver seat. Note also that the R in CORVETTE script on the rear deck is in the wind. The odometer shows approximately 27K miles, but true mileage is unknown. The dashboard was replaced with a Z06 dash several years ago.

This Corvette is unique, it is in amazing condition, and it can be bad to the bone fast (the NOS system is not currently hooked up, but it fully operational). IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR AMATEUR DRIVERS. For the genuine sports car enthusiast, it is an extremely satisfying car. Buyer inspection is highly recommended. No trades and no financing. This is a private sale by owner and only cash or bank to bank wire transfer of funds are acceptable.
