Selling my 2002 Buick Century 4-door sedan. This car has been in my family since day one — my grandparents bought it brand new in 2002 and kept it garaged for 17 years. When they passed, my father inherited it, and he later gifted it to me in 2020. I had it shipped from the East Coast to California in 2022, and it’s been my daily driver ever since.
The car is incredibly comfortable and runs great. The transmission shifts smoothly, the A/C blows cold, and the heater works perfectly. I did have a minor fender bender in 2022 that crunched the hood slightly — it’s purely cosmetic. The paint still looks good (tan metallic), and it’s wearing a nearly new set of Yokohama Avid Ascend LX tires purchased about six months ago. Oil has been changed every 3,000 miles.
Mileage: 106,000 — and these engines are known to easily exceed 200,000 miles.
Known issues (honest rundown):
• P0420 code occasionally appears (catalytic converter efficiency). The car passes smog and runs perfectly — the code clears itself after a drive cycle.
• Power windows currently don’t work (likely a fuse or switch issue). All four are held up with suction cups for now.
• Brakes sometimes squeak briefly on startup — mechanic says it’s moisture-related.
• Dash light for the gear selector and odometer flickers out sometimes; a tap brings it back temporarily.
• Fuel gauge can be slightly inaccurate depending on the car’s angle — common quirk on older GMs.
Despite these quirks, it’s a solid, reliable, and smooth-riding car. I’ve taken it on long trips, including a run up to San Francisco, and it performed flawlessly. All maintenance has been handled by professional mechanics.
If I hadn’t gotten a great deal on a newer car, I’d absolutely keep this one. The front and back bench seats make it a true six-seater, and the ride comfort is hard to beat.
