4 Prep/Shoot Days – Late Jan to Early Feb – Los Angeles – $200/day (incl. kit)
We are seeking an artist to turn a room in a West Hollywood apartment into a pastel, hyper-feminine fantasy world, somewhere between Sofia Coppola’s "Marie Antoinette", Anna Biller’s "The Love Witch", a psychedelic fairy garden, filled with handcrafted props, overgrown botanicals, glitter, and cottagecore dream-surrealism.
I’m an Emmy-nominated female filmmaker collaborating with a UTA-repped writer/director on an upcoming low-budget feature film supported by the Tribeca Film Festival Labs. We’re looking for an Art Director who thrives in imaginative worlds and enjoys the hands-on creativity and inventiveness that smaller productions make possible.
The film leans into grounded magical realism, atmospheric, tactile, and slightly uncanny. Think the handcrafted surrealism of "The Dark Crystal" (in tone, not scale). We’re seeking someone with a strong visual sensibility, an instinct for world-building on a lean footprint, and the ability to elevate practical details into something poetic and immersive.
This position covers four days of work (a blend of light prep and shoot days) in late January to early February, shooting in Los Angeles. Compensation is $200/day, with $500 for DIY materials.
While the budget is small, the core team is made up of filmmakers with active slates at larger scales. If it’s a meaningful creative fit, we’d love to bring you onto future projects with more typical budgets.
If interested, please reach out with your resume and samples. We’ll share our websites, reels, past features, and the script + deck to give you a full sense of the vision.
