This industrial scale head dates back to the post World War I era.
I salvaged it from a warehouse slated for demolition in Little Tokyo, downtown Los Angeles back in 1986.
It has been used as decoration in artist lofts since then.
It is truly unusual, as these were never a consumer item and produced in small quantities.
It sustained some damage during the North Ridge Earthquake, but most of the pieces are still with it.
The dial face is 25 inches around overall.
I installed a lighting mount, for an angle, poise, lamp, to shine light on the face. It provided exceptional after hours, vintage ambience.
It’s not just exceptionally rare, it is also exceptionally cool.
It is light enough for two people to carry, and it will fit in most any hatchback. It was moved to its current location in a Volkswagen rabbit.
