Hi, I have several sizes of these delicious everbearing black mulberry trees, from 1 gallon to 15 gallon containers ($20-$60).
They produce fruit a few times during the year, and sometimes more. They are fully sweet in the summer and may have some tartness in the winter. They have the expensive antioxidant, anthocyanin, which stains purple.
The leaves are edible and are mineral-rich. YOu can eat the leaves raw when they are young and tender. When the leaves are full size, you can de-rib them and cook them in soups or with beans, and they become very tender and taste better than kale.
You can also make tea with the leaves. They taste neutral. In traditional Chinese medicine, these leaves are called Sang Ye. These are what silk worms eat.

These trees will produce fruit while in the planters. Mulberries are fast growing, so you will have to repot to bigger planters periodically. You can also grow new trees from cuttings to control the growth of the main tree.

p.s. I also have Fuerte avocado trees ($10), loquat trees ($10), green fig trees ($20) and Comfrey (I have to pot it first. The plants are still in the ground). Do you have a parkway where a Fuerte tree could grow? Consider that dogs and cats love avocado too, and no animal needs to starve in the wild with these trees around. I witnessed starving feral cats quickly put on weight with these avocados. These avocados are giant and delicious.
