What I teach
* Songwriting (melody, lyrics, structure, creativity)

* Bass guitar (groove, timing, supporting the song, bass as melodic instrument)
* Piano/keys for songwriting and accompaniment
* Performance skills and confidence on stage
My approach
I don’t teach music as a dry theory class. We work on:
* finding your voice
* developing ideas into full songs
* building good habits without killing creativity
* learning instruments in a way that serves the song
Lessons are supportive, conversational, and tailored to your goals — whether that’s writing your first song, improving your musicianship, or preparing to record and perform.
I’ve been writing songs for over ten years and currently perform and record professionally as the singer and guitarist of the band, Common People. I’ve co-written with Matt and Brad Shultz (Cage the Elephant) and Ela Melo and Drew Long (Rainbow Kitten Surprise). I have also toured with Cage the Elephant this past year and will be touring with Rainbow Kitten Surprise in 2026. Additionally, I am signed to Big Loud, managed by Red Light Management, and repped by UTA.

You’re learning from someone actively writing, recording, touring, and collaborating with major artists! Students have a unique opportunity to shadow an active industry professional who is both DOING and TEACHING :) I also have extensive experience working with children! Whether it be coaching, babysitting, or as a counselor, I have had the privilege to mentor countless amazing kids and would love to share the knowledge I have with the next generation of musicians!
