My name is Gaku Murata. I'm a Los Angeles based session guitarist/bassist.
In 2004 Graduated from Berklee College of Music.
After graduation, worked as a session guitarist, mainly in Tokyo and Boston. During this time he had multiple TV appearances (Comcast CN8, Fox, etc.)
As a guitarist in Patrick Charles Makandel Group he appeared at the Yokohama Jazz Promenade and the Sumida Jazz Festival Triphony Hall
In 2012 Moved to Los Angeles and appeared on KIIS FM radio, KTLA TV, That Grape Juice, etc.
He has also published numerous albums and EPs as a producer (Christopher CJ, Danielle W Carter, Chocolate Cake the Band).
He is the first Japanese musician to receive endorsement from a guitar amp brand Quilter Labs. (Quilter Labs Website)
In addition to working as an instructor, he has worked extensively as a songwriter and recording engineer, and he also worked as a Japanese-English translator at MI Hollywood and Citrus College of Music.
You can take lessons at a pace according to your needs, and we tailor your lessons to your preference -- just let us know what you want to learn. All levels and ages are welcome, from beginner to advanced, from playing for fun to a more formal teaching format. Here are some examples of typical lesson content:
-Mastering various styles of music (jazz, rock/pop, blues, funk)
-How to improvise solo over chord changes (chord arpeggio, various scales, upper/lower structure triads, etc.)
-Music theory and songwriting
-How to use DAW to record, edit, and mix
-Sight reading (lead sheet, big band chart, single/double lines)
