Would you like to speak and write French? I can teach you this beautiful language and you can have fun doing it too. My teaching methods will have you speaking very fast.
Currently, I teach online on Skype or Zoom and it is working very well. It is easy to access and provides practically the same environment as a real classroom.
I will test you during the first lesson.

Born and raised in Paris, I have lived and taught in France and in the USA, including French classes and individual students at the Alliance française (French Alliance) school and cultural center of Los Angeles for about 12 years and have taught French for 10 years to Nestle employees moving to French speaking Switzerland. I have a degree in languages from the university of Paris and also speak German fluently, as well as some Italian and Spanish and I am quite passionate about languages and linguistics. Altogether I have taught for about 30 years.
I can teach beginners, as well as advanced students as well as college students and also offer conversation classes.

Please contact me if you're interested and we'll go over the teaching possibilities. If you know a friend or family member who would like to learn too, you could arrange to have the lessons together. It would be even more fun. I am also available evenings and weekends and I give my lessons online, via Skype, Zoom, or whatever is most convenient for you.

Contact me by email to schedule your first session, or if you have any questions. We can then arrange a weekly schedule if you are satisfied.

I also help students with their homework and prepare them for tests.

In addition, I have been a professional translator for about 14 years; I am recommended by the French consulate of Los Angeles as well as a member of the ATA and I and have translated hundreds of official papers, birth certificates, etc. I am available for all types of translation.

Here are some comments on my teaching:

This one is by the wife of a student who went to live in Geneva, Switzerland and needed to learn French very fast:

"By the way, I wanted to mention that Rich always has the highest praise for you and your French instruction!"

Here is another one from a student at the Alliance française:

"I really liked (as well as benefited from) the tone and pace of Marylene's class...
Your class has inspired me to continue learning French. Thank you for your wonderful class and encouraging instruction!
Merci beaucoup!"

And this is from a current private student:
"I had taken French in primary school and it was not my best subject. I dropped it as soon as I could.
Starting again at 33, I was worried I wouldn't be able to learn, but I figured I'd give it a try.
From my first class with Marylène, I adored her. She is a natural teacher, in every wonderful sense of the word. She provides an environment of encouragement and knowledge that makes it easy to feel comfortable. She is endlessly patient, when I don't understand something and she is genuinely excited for all my little victories. I consider myself lucky that I stumbled upon her class and I am amazed at how she has been able to teach me so much in such a small amount of time, always making the journey fun and enjoyable. She goes the extra mile for me, even meeting me on Skype when I'm out of the city.
WHEN I learn French (because I now know it is possible!) it will be a credit to her. I look forward to my classes with her and I am grateful to be her student."

Thank you for your patience and knowledge. I appreciate you very much. (Kyle Sobzack).

Also, recently, one of my other students passed her test to acquire the French nationality after I had given her several lessons to help get ready. She didn't think she would pass at the beginning but she did and she was overjoyed!

This is from the Academic Director of the Alliance Francaise of Los Angeles, a French school and Cultural Center, present all over the world:
"Alliance Francaise of Los Angeles has utilized the teaching talent of Marylene since 2008. She has taught both group and private classes to all levels of students interested in mastering the French language.
In addition to her regular teaching assignment, Marylene is in charge of the French official Certifications (DELF)".

If this sounds good to you, I would love to meet you on Skype or Zoom and test you. We can go over your goals for learning French and see what would be best to attain it.

Please also note that I am a certified teacher of French as a foreign language by the French institute of the Alliance française of Vichy, France.

Lately, I have been teaching quite a few school and university students in French and that is going very well.
If you have exams coming up, please don't hesitate! Now is a good time!

Please feel free to call me if you have any questions and need help for exams or anything else.

It's also a great thing to review your French for summer!

A bientôt!
