This 1945 Harley-Davidson WLA was based on the company’s contemporary civilian model WL and was produced to US Army specifications during WWII. It was purchased by the seller in 2020 as a non-running, incomplete project and a subsequent refurbishment involved overhauls of its 45ci V-twin and hand-shifted three-speed transmission along with a repaint in olive drab with white US Army-style markings. The electrical system was converted to 12 volts and additional work included the installation of an electronic ignition module, a primary belt drive kit, a rebuilt Linkert carburetor, and clutch roller bearings. The lights, mirrors, speedometer, wiring, switches, seat, pack rack, footboards, wheel bearings, spokes, tires, and exhaust system were also replaced.
