Selling a Fender Japan JV-serial Jazz bass, their absolute top of the line model made in the highly acclaimed Fujigen factory, from the prized first year of Fender Japan production, 1982. The headstock is stamped 'made in Japan', and the pot date and PU date are also 1982. 'Vintage White’ finish.
It has the famous stack knob dual volume and tone controls (modeled after the early 60s Fender Jazz basses), nitrocellulose lacquer finish, spiral bridge saddles, reverse tuner pegs, slab rosewood fingerboard, USA pickups, all of which were standard on this, the highest-end JB62-115 model.
Unfortunately, the alphabet stamp on the neck pocket has worn off (though it looks like a little remains) and the neck date has also worn off, but judging from the specifications above, this is absolutely the real deal. The nitro finish has started to yellow a bit with age, just enough in my opinion. A previous owner has 'touched up' a few worn spots on the finish with white paint -- it's hard to photograph but I'll try to include a few good pics. There is a small finish repair on the treble side of the neck around the 9th fret, which you can't feel.
This highly sought-after bass plays incredibly well and sounds fantastic, with a muscular and balanced tone, just like you'd expect from those 80s craftsmen at the Fujigen factory. A rare find for those who know.
