We are looking to hire a full-time Program Coordinator for Housing Corporation of America. Our nonprofit partners with affordable housing developers and provides free classes and events to residents living in low income housing.
ORGANIZATION TYPE: Nonprofit
LOCATION: Los Angeles (Most properties you would teach at are in San Fernando Valley and West LA). Our offices are located in Woodland Hills which you will come in once a week to.
POSITION TITLE: Program Coordinator
DURATION: Permanent (Fulltime)
ANNUAL SALARY: $35k, with benefits, driving stipend, and after the first year 403(b) contribution
The Program Coordinator will be responsible for all activities related to community room classes and events at individual affordable housing communities. They will be the activity director for roughly 8+ properties. They will plan their own program based on resident interest, prepare supplies, and carry out each class. We provide all supplies and our team is fun, flexible, small, and has a startup sort of vibe. We are creative types who love to build community and offer unique and cool classes that otherwise would not be within reach to these residents. Teach what you’re passionate about!
Our Ideal Candidate:
·Bachelor’s degree preferred
·2-4 years of experience working with kids
·Strong understanding of community building
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·Excellent email response time
·Organized and self-disciplined
·Must have car
How You Will Spend Your Day:
·Arriving to a property and setting up for your class. Classes in the past have been arts and crafts, bingo, painting, sculpture, music, sign language, ESL, writing, book club, any sort of event or class that would build community.
·After class posting flyers around the building to encourage attendance.
·Writing and updating the online attendance sheet system, also giving a paper copy to the manager of your attendance sheet and then driving to next property and so on. Most instructors have three classes each day, each class being anywhere from 1-2 hours.
·Emailing and setting up schedules with property managers and our office, keeping us in touch with the classes you teach and other activities you plan on continuing out.
