The Mine Artspace is a clean, open set of artist studios designed to foster creativity, community, and for over 10 years, we've supported people who are developing and practicing their art.
After years of renting studios in Los Angeles, the founding members were tired of choosing between cheap filthy conditions that you couldn't bring a client through, or paying for high end spaces that only the upper tiers could afford.
A need and market were identified. A plan made. When we designed these studios it was important for an open and airy feel to the space. We used clean white walls and minimalist raw wood sliding doors. For ease of large scale work, the smallest studio door is 6 feet wide by 10 feet tall to allow large canvases and art builds to be easily maneuvered. The common spaces are simple and minimally decorated.
It has a gallery feel, that once you pass through it, allows the individual studio to stand out as an artist and personality. We are looking for working artists and creatives that produce art and want to be part of a community.
The individual studios are private, but when you walk out the door, the people you pass in the hallway are artists you would consider peers. Housed in a 1950 bow truss warehouse, the space has been outfitted to accommodate everything from small design offices to large scale artists and traditional fine art studios. The building is a 22,000 square foot space comprising 30 studios of various sizes, from 200sf to 800sf. After the primary security gates, each studio is accessed via its own private locking door.
We all share access to a large, outdoor loading area with high docks, ramp access, and loading zone parking. The neighborhood is safe and surprisingly quiet given its proximity to downtown. We have plenty of private parking. Food, bars, and all the hangouts of the arts district are a short bike or Uber ride away. 24/7 access. Power included.
