Hi. I understand that this is kind of a longshot, but here goes.
I am in dire need of a bicycle. I live in the city and I've had terrible luck with bicycles in the past two years and have burned through five: a gorgeous 1970s model that my buddy demanded back (only to gather dust in his garage unused); a piece-of-crap Wal-Mart bike that I'd had since eighth grade (2002-ish) that I spent eighty bucks on repairing and bringing back to life, only to have it crap out every couple of months a few times before the brakes were shot and making any further investment was a lost cause; a bike fit for a 12-year-old that i nevertheless rode around on frequently before it, too, befell the same fate as the previous one; and a a bike for a 10-year-old that was stolen out of my backyard. The last one I had was a used Miyata that I purchased for sixty before this morning I found it stolen. I'm like, wrecked, man; I just moved here and this totally throws a monkey wrench into the program. I'm pissed and sad and shocked and bitter, but mostly, I just need a new bike. That was my nuts..and someone just rode off with my nuts, y'know what I mean?
I am a beggar (so I can't be a chooser), and I am not looking for anything fancy: just something that can get me from A to B without exploding. I suppose I'm asking for the generosity of strangers, but needless to say, if you could help me out in this capacity giving me a bicycle or selling me one at a very low cost would give you good vibes and an eternally grateful fellow cyclist. I figured this is a big town, and as much potential for pieces of shit who steal bikes from people who need them, there should be as much for someone generous, empathetic, compassionate and just plain rad to help someone out. I am 5'7, so if you have something that might be my size, I'm very interested; I live in the boyle heights area, but I can go to wherever you are if it's convenient for you. if you can do this for me, it would make my year so far. Hit me up whenever at Thank you and and have a great day.
