We are a business-to-business hospitality media start-up. We are looking for an experienced writer or a strong, self-driven writer who is looking to build/expand their writing portfolio to contribute 1 article per week, of about 750-1000 words, to start. This may increase to 2-3 articles a week in the future.
In the beginning, we may create some topics until you become comfortable with the material. The material is related to the business portion of the hospitality industry, specifically short term rentals/vacation rentals/alternative accommodations. This would NOT be “how-to run” types of articles but would be on industry trends, insights and issues. It would be for a business audience of founders, operators, investors, industry vendors, etc
The goal would be to inform and create meaningful discussions, provoke thought, and become an authoritative leader in the space. We want to build a reputation as the place to go for industry information to help businesses stay competitive.
There will be some research that may be required on some topics so you must know what are credible or non-credible sources. Once the article is submitted, it will be reviewed and you may asked for 1-2 revisions.
You can be a ghost writer, and will not receive any author credits for the work OR you can get a byline if you become a frequent/regular writer - let us know your preference on this. You are a freelancer/independent contractor. By accepting the gig, you agree to release rights to all content.
Prior previous experience in journalism or the hospitality industry is a plus.
To apply, please respond to this posting with:
1) "Alternative Accommodation Writer" in your subject line
2) Share why writing on the business of short term rentals/hospitality real estate industry appeals to you (5 sentences max)
3) 2-3 writing samples
Note that your reply IS PART of the application process! Typos, grammatical errors, etc. will likely disqualify you from consideration. Responses without samples will not be given consideration.
We look forward to hearing from you!
