Crafted in Scandinavia and marked with “Royal Board of Sweden” on the drawer bottoms, this vintage 1960s lowboy dresser by John Stuart is a striking piece that blends modernism with expert craftsmanship. Built from solid wood with a vibrant American black walnut veneer, this sits on a recessed, plinth base and features black leatherette fronts accented by a chrome trim and flat bar handles. Behind the cabinet doors are additional drawers, offering plenty of storage, while the long length makes this perfect to use as a credenza or as a vanity dresser with a mirror hung above. The mix of textures and linear silhouette makes this a dramatic piece that pairs nicely with decor like Mid Century, Scandinavian, Danish, Brutalist, Contemporary or Retro.
This is in very good vintage condition, with the top having been recently refinished. There were some areas of chipped veneer that were repaired on the base and minor wear& one chip on the drawer that was color-matched (as pictured). All the drawers pull out properly and this have levelers on the bottom.
