All with working key locks & keys. Its interior features a combination of shelves and drawers. The primary function was as a versatile storage unit for various clothing items but the best part is it being ornate and stylish it served as a decorative statement piece in our room.
Reason for Selling: Love this piece and hate to part with it but it needs a new forever home that will appreciate and enjoy it. Everyone that sees it says "Wow" and admires its beauty. We have had it in the family for over 25 years and need to downsize our fascination with large antiques.
NOTE: The armoire has been broken down into its unassembled state for easy transport (SUV/Van/Pickup). We will make ourselves available via FaceTime, Zoom, WhatsApp,... to help you reassemble in your home. It's not hard just easier when someone is there to ask "now what do I do ?s". You will need 2 people and 4 hands, no screwdrivers, hammers,... it goes together like legos (old school) antiques
Time Period: 19th Century (Victorian)
We believe it to be from the Victorian era by its elaborate ornamentation and darker finishes. Machine production led to more ornate, yet symmetrical, designs. Its made from rich woods like mahogany or oak with origins in ornate, decorative design with elaborate details and mirrored panels.
Maker's marks:
We believe this is an early piece as there are no "makers marks" anywhere. we checked inside drawers, on the back of the piece, and on the underside however, as with the case of many early pieces its unmarked. It has signs of Hand-cut (pre-1880s) as you can see in the shelving notches that are slightly uneven. These cuts and slight variations lead us to believe this some of the final touches may have been made with a hand saw and chisel.
