This piece is a vintage, mid-century, Ramona Made in Cal, Size 1, pottery mixing bowl in a rich, vibrant, turquoise blue color that dates to the 1930s-1940s. It is molded on the underside of the base with an impressed mark that reads RAMONA MADE IN CAL, 1. It is the largest mixing bowl in a nested set that Ramona manufactured. I cannot find anything about Ramona pottery except for a couple smaller bowls from the nested set that sold on Etsy. This is the first Ramona piece I have come across so I can only assume the pottery enjoyed a relatively short time in production.

The bowl measures 8-3/4" in diameter x 5-5/8" deep. It is in excellent condition. The bowl rings true, meaning it is free of structural cracks and damage. There are no chips, cracks, flakes, hairline cracks, or restoration. There is a few flea bites from the glazing process that are shown in the pictures. The inside has a dark ring that is definitely part of the firing process. When you run your finger over and around the darker color you can feel that it melds into the glaze.

I purchased this piece in Oakhurst, CA from a roadside flea market in 1982.
