About the Role:
We’re looking for a reliable, detail-oriented studio tech to help manage the flow of pottery through our community studio. This position supports day-to-day operations including processing class work, maintaining clean and organized workspaces, and keeping kiln and glaze cycles moving smoothly.
Main Duties:
• Sort and clean pottery bottoms after firing
• Label, photograph, and organize finished student pieces for pickup
• Load and unload bisque and glaze kilns
• Glaze large batches of student pottery and monitor glaze levels
• Bag finished work and manage the pickup area
• Keep track of firing schedules
• General studio cleanup: wiping tables, mopping, organizing, cleaning restrooms and sinks
• Assist with reclaim, mixing clay, and general materials upkeep
Misc Tasks (Production Related):
• Support clay production and reclaim processes as needed
• Knowledge of reclaim systems, trimming, throwing, and production workflow is highly valued
• Experience with throwing/ raku/ gas or firing is a major plus. Ability to throw up to 5+lbs will help with growing role in the future.
Requirements:
• Basic knowledge of ceramics and kiln operations
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for long periods
• Strong attention to detail and time management
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced studio
• Positive attitude and good communication with staff and members
