1997 Maestro by Gibson SG.
Sounds & plays great with huge upgrades. No tuning issues at all.
Excellent condition for a 28 year old guitar.
Stunning looking guitar - the photos do not do it justice at all. Looks much better in person.
PROS:
This guitar has been custom modified and seriously upgraded with top notch parts:
- Sperzal locking tuner pegs.
- Seymour Duncan J.B. (wired coil splittable) pickup with 50’s style Philadelphia Luthier Radiator Chrome Cover and gold inner screen.
Pickup is coil splittable (humbucker or single coil) on a push-pull CTS volume knob.
- CTS tone knob with orange drop capacitor.
- Iron Age Killswitch - stainless steel with blue ring light LED that matches the blue finish on the guitar.
It’s installed but I couldn’t figure out how to wire it. I have the battery pack with 2 brand new 2032 batteries it requires.
Plus the schematic in the original package it came with for you.
- Switchcraft input jack - TRS tip to power the blue lighted LED Iron Age kill switch it requires.
- Wilkinson intonation wrap-around bridge.
- Gibson Maestro Harp tailpiece - Derek Trucks SG style - no bar.
- Ebony buffalo bone nut.
- Rosewood fretboard.
- Cool factor - the knobs are vintage 1950’s-60’s baked rubber (not plastic).
They are pulled from an old Massey Ferguson farm tractor harvester control switchboard plate.
- Traditional Gibson bookend shaped headstock.
- Rare sapphire blue finish - the kill switch blue light matches the blue finish.
- Strung with brand new Ernie Ball Super Slinky 9-42 strings.
- Bass wood body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard. Weighs 8.5lbs, so it’s not your lightweight plywood import.
- Absolutely stunning looking guitar. Hanging on your wall, studio or mancave, everybody and their mother gravitates to it.
It’s charming to say the least, people fall in love it.

CONS-
-Iron Age Killswitch installed but needs to be wired up. I couldn’t figure out the wiring. But I have the Iron Age schematic, battery pack and new batteries in the original packaging for you.
-The 18th fret on the low E side is 1 millimeter short from the edge of neck - it came that way from the factory.
Does not affect the playability at all. I never noticed it until the frets were dressed. (See photo).

I’m not hyping this up as some glorious upgraded Gibson experience, think more good solid, dependable Epiphone with very cool pickup tone variations and a beautiful, stylish Wow factor that is off the charts.
I’m selling it because I’ve had my fun with it, and could use the money for Christmas for my family.
Lastly…
Sometimes it’s the guitar that finds it’s player. If this SG is speaking to you?
Come get your boy. He’s been waiting for you.
