Overview: Up for sale is an incredible antique oil painting depicting a nocturnal cityscape scene of a city on the water. Based on my research, particularly based on the Mughal-inspired architecture, background buildings and figures wearing white turbans and dhoti, his is likely a depiction of Northern India (in the area of Agra). It depicts two fisherman and another figure wading into the harbor/river. Painting is signed Victor F. Love at lower left. An incredible piece. Undated, but I estimate that it dates to approximately the 1920s. Framed in a period carved white wood frame.
Condition: Painting is in good overall condition. Small repair at upper left. Minor scuffs, cracquelure and minimal paint loss throughout. Frame is in good condition.
Measurements: Painting measures approximately 18 inches high x 14 inches wide. Frame measures approximately 19.75 inches high x 15.75 inches wide.
